Our Founder
Donald M. Koll (1933-2011)
Mr. Koll founded The Koll Company in 1962 creating what would become an international organization that offered the full spectrum of real estate services including acquisition, construction, development, and management services. Since its founding, The Koll Company and its predecessor entities have acquired and developed more than 150 million square feet of office, industrial, retail, resort and golf course properties throughout the United States, Mexico and the Pacific Rim.
Mr. Koll also served as chairman for affiliated companies, including Koll Construction and Koll Resorts International, and was a founding partner in Koll Bren Schreiber Realty Advisors (KBS), a real estate investment advisory firm, which established the basis for KBS affiliated companies, one of the nation’s largest buyers of commercial real estate. Additionally, Mr. Koll was on the Board of Directors of The Irvine Company, Fidelity National Title, CBRE, Grubb & Ellis and Wells Fargo Bank. He is a past presidential appointee to the Board of Trustees of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and the Red Cross. Mr. Koll earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Stanford University and served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force.
